We were recently invited to attend a lecture on finances. One would expect the attention an individual pays to their finances would reflect the mode of dress. But before we go too far with this let us first say, out of the 1200 guests the cross section from young to old the youth in the room put more effort into their presentation. We saw a number of people in suits and those sporting a casual jacket, either with jeans or a trouser. We support the effort and for those who remained with their winter jackets and put no effort at all we shake our finger. The information about finances and how to invest is done with a great deal of expertise and the involvement of the investor to execute and to master their information can only be delivered by a well executed and sharply dressed individual. If one was sitting in the privacy of their own living room I would expect to see everything from sweat pants to work wear. Whether given the ticket on a complimentary basis or you paid, please gentleman let’s put more effort into not only how we represent ourselves but how we represent the city. As we have been told the recession has not hit our province, the dynamics and our will to succeed and survive sets us apart not only within Canada but in North America. We are fortunate to have the resources and the fortitude to keep ourselves growing competitively. As we invite the outside world in let us show them competitively, intellectually and also socially that we are leaders. When dressing for an event such as the one we attended having a number of casual jackets in your closet enables you to pick up your game. Paired with trousers or jeans and a nice casual shoe that is polished, the look sets a statement. Both of our fathers are working class men who did not wear casual jackets or suits during the day, although Rodger’s father is deceased come Sunday or such as a special event Rodger’s father put on a crisp clean white shirt, trouser and tie. This shows that you can participate in both worlds. As we leave you with these thoughts until next week remember to think ahead and be prepared. Not only for that rainy day for when you need a few extra dollars in your pocket but you never know when you are going to meet that special someone and you want to have your game face on. Just a little reminder please don’t dry your white shirts in the dryer, let them hang to dry and press accordingly.
